Happy Monday, y’all! My weekend was fun, but exhausting. Spent time with my mom and then friends downtown in Chicago on Saturday. We went to dinner at Nando’s, a fast-casual restaurant I loved in London, but had never tried stateside! I headed home early while they went to see Beauty and the Beast, because I had to wake up early for my flight on Sunday morning.
I arrived back in NYC ahead of schedule, hopped in an Uber, relaxed on the couch for about 20 minutes before going to meet two of my other close friends from high school, one of whom was in town for the weekend! We watched the Oxford/Cambridge boat race at The Churchill, a pub in NYC that completely captures the London vibe — it’s one of my favorite spots in the city (and where I celebrated the birth of Prince George and Princess Charlotte! Yes, I celebrated, hehe.) Then we headed uptown for a walk in the park. It was gorgeous out, warm temperatures and the sun shining, so it was packed. My friend then had to catch her bus, so we parted ways and I went home and took a nap. After a crazy few days, it was beyond necessary.
Today’s post is a (slight) throwback to my trip to LA. My stepsister graciously shot these photos for me while we were walking around the Venice Canals. If you’re ever in LA, you need to pay this area a visit. It is a complete dream. All the houses have these adorable patios with cozy couches and dining areas, and I seriously wanted to just curl up there with a good book. I would actually die to own a house there, or even just rent one for the week! Venice is a super cute area of LA, and I’ll be sharing more photos from my time there soon! Also, how cute is that flamingo? I’m obsessed!
This outfit features a lot of favorite items, some new, some tried and true. I grabbed this dress during last month’s Shopbop sale. Some of you may have seen that I was originally debating on Instagram Stories, but I ended up keeping it. I love how it embraces some trends — embroidery and the lace up front — with a classic blue and white stripe. I had an event last summer I needed a cute dress for, and I felt like I was sorely lacking in non-Lilly options. Don’t get me wrong, I love Lilly, but sometimes you want to go in a different direction, you know? It’s a wardrobe problem I vowed to rectify this year, and I think this dress is a perfect start.
I’ve had my MZ Wallace Medium Metro Tote for about a year now, and it is seriously the BEST. TOTE. EVER. Lined with interior pockets and super roomy, it’s my go-to carryon, and favorite bag to bring to work when I just have a my Cult Gaia bag is spaciouslot of stuff to carry around. I carried it around Venice because I wanted something big enough to fit my SLR camera, and though , it’s not quite that spacious.
A note about my lip color: This pencil slash tinted balm is my absolute favorite. It’s pricey — really pricey — for a lipstick, but if any product is worth the money, it’s this one.
